Mahogany Bench
Most of my furniture is made with a design goal or element that we are looking to meet. With this project, a client that I met through the Cazenovia farmers market reached out and told me they wanted a bench for a unique pillow. We wanted to build a bench they were made for each other. After some back and forth we landed on this style bench that is full of small beautiful details. The bench is made out of solid mahogany with rosewood splines. Between the bench base and top, we dyed a small area to help visually separate the two halves. The feet themselves use leather instead of felt to protect the floors in their new home. The pillow's pattern has sharp jagged lines we came up with a very intricate tapered leg that helped pull the base and pillow together.
Overall this bench is one of my favorite designs that I have ever had the pleasure to build. All of the small details really make this bench truly unique and very visually stimulating. The deep rich mahogany with the jet black Rosewood makes this bench unbelievably sturdy and is going to be the focal point in their mudroom.
